It was 33 years ago... Turin, winter 1973/74, a new band is born and "arti" is their name. Later they will become "arti & mestieri" and today, "33" is the big, deluxe package with which they celebrate their 33th anniversary, their 'first 33 years'. This unusual celebration is in synthony with our research for a certain uniqueness, that's been a stable trademark in our artistical life and, at the same time to do homage to the LP, to Mr. "33?".

Ricomporre Venegoni & Co, un gruppo che era praticamente inattivo dal 1980 (se si eccettua la parentesi del Cd Nocturne dell ’88) mi appariva come un’impresa spaventosa ed affascinante al tempo stesso. La passione e la voglia di far musica di persone come Piero Mortara, di tutti i musicisti coinvolti e, non ultimo, di Beppe Crovella è stata determinante per convincermi del fatto che potevo ancora provarci. Dopo quasi un anno di lavoro ecco "Planetarium" che spero sarà degno successore di Sarabanda, a tutt’oggi il mio lavoro musicale preferito. A quella magica band ed in particolare al compositore e pianista Ludovico Einaudi è dedicato il brano "La luna sopra Dogliani", il magico luogo delle Langhe dove è nata parte della musica di Sarabanda. Il brano Bibuschka è stato composto appositamente per la mia compagna di una vita, Bibi Venegoni. Spero sinceramente che possiate amare questa musica almeno la metà di quanto è piaciuto a tutti noi comporla ed eseguirla.

To put together the group, after a twenty-six years intermission, seemed to me like a frightening and,
at the same time, charming challenge. The true music passion of fine musicians like Piero Mortara and all players involved and, not least, the strong support by Beppe Crovella , have eventually convinced me that I should give it a try. After an eleven months work here
it is : "Planetarium" , the new Cd that, as I hope, will be a good enough follower of Sarabanda, which I still rate as my best musical work. To that magic band and especially to the composer and piano player Ludovico Einaudi I want to dedicate the song n.8 "Moon Over Dogliani", the magic place on the Langhe hills ,
where a good part of the music contained in Sarabanda
was composed and rehearsed. The song “Bibuschka” was composed for my beloved wife Bibi Venegoni. I hope sincerely that You can appreciate this music as much as we all liked to compose and play it. Thanks.

Ante Tilt è una raccolta di brani realizzati intorno al 1972-73
prima della pubblicazione di Tilt con la partecipazione di alcuni
musicisti, tra i quali Giovanni Vigliar poi entrato con lo stesso
Venegoni a far parte degli Arti & Mestieri .
Le registrazioni vennero effettuate utilizzando due registratori
stereo (un Revox A 77 ed un Tascam) con mezzi tecnici limitati
ma con grande amore e passione.
Il risultato di questa faticosa esperienza è oggi finalmente disponibile
per le vostre orecchie... con brani in embrione quali "Gravità 9.81",
"Aliante" e altro ancora, un tassello certamente ancora mancante nella
storia infinita degli Arti e Mestieri & friends !
