Here we go again with a great "PROG" record!
CONQUEROR have given to us a new treat, a concept-album in 13 chapters, rich in emotions, coming from the fervent creativityof this great band from Sicily!
The musical style of the dand is still htere and the general sound is not far from the flute melodies of “Storie fuori dal tempo”, because the duet hammond/flute dominate and get along well with an extremely sophisticated rythm session and a dreamy guitar accompanied by a splendid woman's voice complete the musical creation with great skill!
There are hidden references to those who have been the pioneers of this musical genre that we love so much and we basically call "PROG", we're talking of Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Locanda Delle Fate, Apoteosi and Goblin who certainly have influenced the composition of our Sicilian musicians, which also look at the British new-prog scene with great interest... IQ, Marillion, Arena e Pendragon among all!

A
concept album based on a science fiction story about constellations,
planets and the close relationship between human mind and artificial. Music reflects the story and sounds: dense and floating atmospheres with some Floyd / Eloy influences, there are also many moods in the album. A little step in the modern sound progressive influenced by Porcupine / NoSound and recent post-rock bands re-elaborated in very personal way. Sung in Italian with good vocal interpretation. In substance an original work with many influences that looks to the future not forgetting the spirit of progressive rock. |

Gecko’s Tear “Contradiction”

Gecko’s
Tear were born in Naples, Italy, in 1999... since then they have
been working hard and dedicately up to the making of this splendid
first album, that surely confirms their great talent.
Our boys were already marked as outstanding after they won the contest
organized by “Movimenti Prog”, dedicated to Demetrio Stratos,
the former singer of Area; and soon after that, for their exhibition
as a support act of the Swedish band Isildurs Bane and Arti e Mestieri,
that was followed by passages on RockTv and more...
Gecko’s Tear's music is definitely far from average schemes
and our time's standards... while listening to it, mind goes to "vintage"
heores such as Yes, King Crimson, Rush, Genesis, ELP & Zappa but,
and this is not blasphemous, the Geckos can incline towards a more
modern prog, flirting with jazz-rock and "keeping a foot"
into rock in opposition, influences that are anyway present in their
compositions, so rich in unusual diversions and embellishments of
various kinds.
The vocals of our Claudio Mirone, carismatic leader of the band and
its main compositive source, melts away nicely in the instrumental
dimension; the lirycs are English but, as curious and witty as it
may seem, when they play Italy, in order to communicate more easily
the songs' contents, Geckos use to sing in Italian!

We
are happy to announce the release of the CD of October Equus. a new
band
from Spain, full of personality!
The musical styile that these talented boys offer to us is rich in important
hints both to the great prog music of the present and to that of the
past
((Anglagard, Gentle Giant,
King Crimson, Universe zero), still without becoming a simple clone
of these
named bands! They display originality in their compositions, that are
never
easy but always pleasant and well structured: an album for everybody
and
very rich with musical contents!
Conqueror - "Storie fuori dal Tempo", MRC 006
The
band from Sicily, after having produced their first album on their own,
thrust itself into our hands to produce this new album that identifies
them even more, taking them into that small group of Italian bands that
are capable of gaining the attention of a worldwide public.
In this album, that can be defined as a "concept", Conqueror
were inspired by the ancient legend of Fata Morgana (The Fairy of the
Waters), mythological figure of both Celtic England and Medieval Italy.
It si told that her abode was at the bottom of the Messina channel:
thus our band, to create the right feeling, have treated us with 60
minutes of pure PROG, with the long final suite "Morgana"
as a climax; this all brings us back in a time of legend just like a
fairytale in music.
For those who may not know yet the "sound" of Conqueror...
I can certainly say that this record makes past and present meet, and
melt, like in a daytime dream, thanks to the splendid female singer,
to the flute, the femminile, the hammond that reminds us so much of
Locanda Delle Fate, Apoteosi, Goblin... plus the rich guitar always
there to embroider the already luxurious music, aided by the rythmic
sessions that recall IQ, Marillion e Arena... a real precious one, ready
to be "savoured"!
